Planck's Place

Welcome. If you are here, then more than likely it means you were invited. What is a blog you say? Well, it's a type of website run a bit like a news letter. I can edit and add things as often as I like. So in a way it's a journal online. I created this just to share with our family and friends across the miles. Check back often and add comments when you feel so compelled. Most of the photos are of Emily, but if you look often enough, you will catch the occasional one of Tony and I.

June surprize in September!

Guess what came in the mail today! All the way from South Africa even! Emily got the mail today and found a letter addressed to her in it, she opened it, and said, "Mommy, there's a necklace!" and looked again and said, "and a bracelet too!" She was so excited, I read the card to her and it was from her Aunt, Uncle and Cousin. Her Cousin made the necklace and braclet for her by himself! She said "Oh that's a special suprize, that was so kind of him, I can't believe it"

The best part is that it appears this has been circulating in the mail since before her birthday in June and just got here today! (3 months later, good old S.African post) A big thank you to Rob, Nita, and especially Renier!

Faithful Readers

Hello, it's been a while since my last post. Let's see, catch up. OK, went to the air show on Sept 11th. It was fantastic, except for the fact my camera died on me mid-show... So no photos for a spell until I get it all fixed again. It's taking photos again, but not like it should be, so I think I need to send it in for a service.

So Emily is back in school and doing well. I went back to work on the 12th, and it's good. I even got a new computer there and a raise this year, woo hoo! It's been hectic getting back in to the routine of things though. Here's my morning. Get up at 5:10, get showered, dressed and ready, get Emily up, get her ready and eat breakfast, then off out of the house by 6:30. Take her to school, go to work, get off work, pick her up, play one hour, put her in the tub while I make dinner, eat, read to her or short play, get her off to bed then I crash myself. By this time It's 8 or 9 PM already. Whew..... 5 days a week, OK so I have been completely spoiled with the summer off, I know. It takes a couple of weeks to get used to it, then it goes smoothly again.

I guess all of this is an explination as to why there are not many posts here lately! Let alone why all my friends haven't heard a peep from me either. A couple more weeks and I will feel human again and come out of hiding I am sure, this happens every Fall.

OK, check back soon, I will try to get some photos up soon! ~Cyndie

Air Show Weekend!

The air show is this weekend here. We live very close to the Hillsboro Airport where the show takes place and I stood outside in our front yard and shot these as they flew by during Friday's show. We purchased tickets this year and are going tomorrow, so check back, I should get some great shots from the 4th row center stage!

Fantastic foursome!

From our front yard, can you believe it?

This plane flew by so low, and so fast I was stunned that I actually got a frame off and got this photo! Emily said, "Mommy, that was so loud it made my tummy jiggle!" It was quite impressive. You can even see the vapor trail off the wings and the fire in the tail pipes, OK, so I am not a plane girl, could be the engines, or jets or whatever, hey, I got the shot. Gawd I LOVE my camera!

As summer comes to an end...

It's been a while since my last post. Much has happened in the last month! I am recovering well from my hysterectomy surgery 3 weeks ago. (this is why there have been no posts lately)

We kept busy camping and hiking and playing most of the season. As fall draws near, I have that dreaded feeling of having to go back to work again, but I also look forward to having the routine back, with some order around here.

Emily started Pre-K/Junior kindergarten today. She went right into class like a pro! I was so proud. I can't wait to pick her up and hear all about her first day. It's awful quiet around the house here alone...

We often sit outside on our front bench and watch the humming birds drink from our feeder. They are literally 2 feet away and even come down and fly right up to us to check things out. They like to see their reflections in my camera lens. This is an Anna's Hummingbird, about 2 1/2 inches long. We also get Roufus and Black Chinned Hummingbirds here. It's amazing how hard they are to photograph, you wouldn't believe it until you tried it I guess, so I was thrilled with this photo and the colors showing.

August fun in the pool

Many days were spent frolicking around in the pool out in the back yard this summer. We had a pretty hot summer for us, and the water was a welcome refreshment and great exercize too! It was super way to spend time outside in the great weather.

A Mid-summer's Day

A funny face, posing for the camera. It's hard to take good shots of Emily lately, she either runs or makes completely funny faces for the camera.

In front of our house, just hangin' out.......
